It's been a few weeks since my last entry... and no, that's not because I fallen off the horse (that really would hurt though right?). I've been VERY busy, between additional episodes of "Guild of Adventurers" the release of our Patreon Page (https://www.patreon.com/hailandwellmetpodcast) and the commencement of voice testing for Jake Tanner - Private Investigator, not to mention my general work life, sick kids, building a house, selling another house... well, you get the idea.

I do have an update for you today though. Back in Nov 17 when I met with my GP, who sent me to a surgical specialist which has resulted in me having surgery in the coming weeks for the removal of a Lipoma, I weighed 104kg. I put a few kg on over the Christmas period, which got me up to 107kg+, but 104kg was what the specialist had last seen.

Since I started Keto, one of my main goals was to able to attend surgery having dropped 10kg... and guess what? 1.5 weeks away from my surgery I weighed in this morning at 93.8kg! More than 13kg since I started Keto and a solid 10kg since the surgeon saw me last.

I can proudly say I have hit my first major milestone!

There's still a long way to go for me, given my BMI is still in the "obese" category (yeah, it's only a guideline, but it's still a guideline!). For that to drop down, I need to lose the same amount again, another 13kg... but I'm getting there and I've got to start somewhere!

Also - I need new pants! These ones are WAY too big!

It's been a few weeks since I last updated you on my "Keto Journey" but there's been some great milestones hit in that time! I have finally, for the first time in many years, weighed in under 100kg. And that's not just a "oh, 99.9kg, what a win" but I've been under it, and steadily getting lower (97.9kg this morning) for the past week or so [insert cheers and back pats here].

I've still maintained a no-soft-drink rule, even the diet stuff, which I am feel all the better for. I definitely still rely on sparkling water to remove that craving and until someone provides solid scientific evidence that sparkling water is evil, I'll stick to it!

There's been a few craving moments for carbs as the family has gone through some more challenging times of late.

The typical "really bad day, let's get fast food" has come up once or twice, I even went as far as grabbing the car keys to head to drive through!

But thankfully, I saw reason and saved some money by going back to my pre-made meals. Did I regret that decision at the time? Yes... Do I regret it now? No!

So on with the lifestyle changes (I've tried to stop calling it a "diet" - so many negative connotations and understanding looks from people when you tell them. Lifestyle change has a nice ring to it! Also, as someone who has suffered through various food allergies, those that know me tend to not ask questions when I say that "I can't eat that", they usually assume it's an allergy (this especially works at restaurants, "I'm sorry, I can't eat [non-keto food]" is usually met with some level of understanding, unless of course someone thinks you're being a "typical millennial with your weird eating habits".

And here we are... day one of the FOURTH week of Keto sees me successfully completing a 3 week keto bingefest. What are the results though and what are my plans for the future?

As I've said before, I have dieted (a lot!) and I know full well the immediacy of quick wins and how they taper off without any forgiveness. Typically I see week two, or maybe a few days later, where the daily weigh in starts to shift from multi 100g losses, to MAYBE 100g over 3 or 4 days...

I started this diet weighing in at 108kg - not my heaviest, but not far off... A few weeks before hand I measured myself and I've been tracking it (irregularly) in a spreadsheet.

Here's some before and after stats.

About 7kg down after 3 weeks, almost under 100kg for the first time in many years... feels pretty good... and pretty motivational...

So that's that really... Keto seems to be suiting me quiet well. I haven't been overly hungry, it's gotten me off diet soft drink, sugar is almost completely gone from my diet (well no deliberate sugar, it's sometimes snuck in there by nasty companies!), and I'm generally feeling pretty happy with how it's all going!

Check back in soon to see what other updates I may have! And wish me luck!
